End of Season

As the weekend approaches I am thinking of next year. This always happens......... As I am getting older, I find that I wish that I could just hang up my professional shoes and just go play. That time will come so in the mean time we will prepare for that play time.
We will spend this coming weekend on the boat. It is our 28th wedding anniversary so we will spend time working and celebrating. We will defrost the freezer, let things dry then tape the toilet paper tubes in place to hold the freezer and fridge doors open so that the interiors do not mold in the off season. While the thaw happens, we will lower the mast and tie it off to keep it in place.
Saturday night we have dinner reservations at The Orchard Catawba. Then we have our final sleep on the boat as we will exit on Sunday and notify Skipperbuds that the boat is at their convenience to pilot over to the Catawba facility for sand blasting and winter slumber.
We have grand plans for next year and our off season will be consumed with moving Chris's mom to the same community where my parents live. They are 5-7 minutes away depending on the left run signal at Nettleton Rd. Having her close will be fantastic. We will be able to see her more often and she will have a community to help keep her occupied. In the end we believe that this will be a better situation than being alone in her house in isolation. It will be change, no doubt. But we hope she will see what we see.
I really do wish I was retired and could just play on the boat all day. I am at the point in my life where I dream of what is to come and want that freedom to arrive sooner than later.
Over and Out...... See you next Season.
